Kylie’s Gallery – Videos

Here are some of my favorite works over the last few years.

Vastness of Space – (Choreographed by Kylie Blake) Inspired by personal feelings of isolation, being overwhelmed, and helplessness during the pandemic. The piece describes my relationship with the world and how I view myself in it. Prior to the pandemic, I saw my existence as a tiny speck with no real purpose. My view began to change throughout the pandemic, and I opened my perspective to see my space in the universe as a place where there are endless opportunities for me to explore new hobbies and ideas to pursue, and to spend more time with my family. The pandemic has allowed me to see the light and the things I am grateful for, instead of just isolation.

Unbreathable Tomorrow – (Co-Choreographed by Kylie Blake and Amanda Ito) This piece was originally created by myself and my partner to portray the realism of climate change and its effect on our air. The masks are representing the air pollution damaging ourselves and the environment. Without knowing, my partner and I had created a dance that foreshadowed the events of COVID-19. As COVID became more and more substantial, this piece became a symbol of unity during COVID. It reminded us in order to be successful we need to work together.

Taken– (Choreographed by Emily Bogush and Emma Petersen) This is a student piece choreographed by my peers in the dance academy where I played the lead dancer. The dance is a wonderful narration about an amber alert where a group of kids get a notification one of their friends has gone missing. As the piece continues, more and more friends are “taken” leaving me to left behind.
